Let’s jump right in

Tiztal is a Juice and smoothie bar and a Mexican leaning cafe in an Aztec style setting. I have definitely not experienced decor like this before. Usual window seat and usual coffee   7    and water in a bottle

The chairs are NOT Fat Friendly. My big @ss wasn’t very happy. Yes I could have plopped on the bench but you know how I feel about that.

The menu is short YAY   9   I pre read the menu online so I knew a few things that must order. I must order Chilaquiles and I must order an Oatmeal Shake. So 1st up Chilaquiles with chicken.

I hear you from here. Geno why oh why do you order SS up eggs? you are just going to end up complaining about them. Well Gators you know how I love chasing Unicorns. Some day I am going to get some that are properly prepared – but not today. Undercooked and Snotty   5   Better luck next time Breakfast Gator!  Moving right along lets talk Spuds. Delicious. Deep fried fresh crispy and garlicky   a very yummy   8   The green Tomatillo sauce   8   Spicy but not overly. Salt level was right and a nice acid bite. The chicken was seasoned well and tasty   8   A tad overcooked but not hammered. The chips were crisp on top and soft on the bottom just like they should be with a proper level of cheese.   8    This dish is an overall   8   would have been a 9 if the eggs were right. A good version of a classic dish.

Our VERY gracious server Teresa Happens to be the owner. She brought over several shots of Oatmeal Shake which reminded me that I needed to order one. Oatmeal Banana

A Shake for Breakfast. YES!  It was delicious cool smooth thick Bananaee and Oatee   8   What else can I say.

Florentine Omelette
Spinach and mushrooms, topped with hollandaise sauce. served with potatoes

The Hollandaise was unlike any I’ve had. The consistency was right but something about the seasoning was off to me   7   They were actually pretty close to being soft enough for me but needed a touch of salt. A rare   7    The filling could have been a bit more seasoned for my taste. More delicious Potatoes. Overall this was a   7   A couple of easy tweaks could make this an 8 or 9

3rd

Signature Waffle with Fresh Fruit and Strawberry Sauce

Pretty straightforward. A crispy Waffle with Bananas Pineapple Strawberries and Watermelon with some Strawberry Sauce to top it off.   The Sauce made it.   7    It was fresh and tasty

Teresa provided a meal ending surprise. A Juice and a Smoothie. The Juice was Beet Apple Orange Carrot and Celery. I am not really a fan of beets except for roasted ones with Butter. I feel like they taste like dirt when they are raw. In spite of that it was actually pretty good.   7   The smoothie was a veggie fruit combo. Good   8

That’s it Gators. A pretty good visit. An interesting place with an interesting menu and great service. In the Uptown Area? Stop in for some good Chilaquiles and an Oatmeal Shake. Oh and go see my Brother Jerry at Tattoo Factory also in Uptown.
