My thanks to David Rodriguez from the most delicious WHISK Restaurant for this suggestion. Make sure you eat there. You’ll thank both of us.
Miserable traffic. Opens at 7:30 arrived closer to 8. Everyone that knows me knows how I feel about being late. I’m just NOT late. I had to park in the parking garage across the street from the place 12 Bucks. The street parking around was by permit only so be warned.

Exterior
The interior is a love child of a BBQ place and a Chipotle. It’s Diamond Plate accents, Corrugated tin panels, and sheet metal tables. Stone tile and faux wood floors mostly but one of the rooms in the back had Carpet for some reason. Ewe Carpet. Mixed Year Vocal Music 7

Standard window seat and Coffee ordered. Coffee is good and really strong 8 The menu is a bit big but not overwhelming. There is Meatloaf for breakfast. How could I not order it? Answer? I couldn’t not.
Griddled HH meatloaf & 2 eggs served with mashed potatoes, fruit & biscuit
I saw the 13.25 price tag and thought that it was a bit steep but as it turned out it is enough food for 3 people.
SS up Eggs. I know, don’t lecture me. I always have hope that they will make them right. Of course they weren’t right. Snotty as usual. 4 Meatloaf was pretty good. A bit too much garlic and a bit overworked but tasty. 8 Mashed Potatoes or actually chunky mashy skin on potatoes. Delicious! 8/9 Very tall Biscuit. Crisp outside firm inside. Tasty. 7 Served with house made Jam and Cow made butter. An overall 8 It would have been a 9 if the Eggs were right.
I almost forgot the Orange Slice. Do I need to say it? Of course I do! “1965 called they want their garnish back”.

Andy’s sage fried chicken w/ fresh spinach, hardwood smoked bacon, market tomato, griddled mozzarella, chipotle cream and scrambled eggs
For those that don’t know there are a couple of classic comfort foods that everyone seems to love but I’m sort of luke warm about. One is Macaroni and cheese. I think the reason people love it is the association with childhood and a blue and yellow box. The other thing is Fried Chicken. I am not a big fan. I like it, I just don’t love it. So why did I order it? It was under recommendation of our very gracious and excellent server Sam. You never know someones fried chicken may change me. Maybe it’s Andy’s
This dish was not a complete sum of it’s parts. The components were good for the most part but It didn’t really work for me.
The Chipotle cream was Delicious The best part of this dish 9 The Bacon was a bit lost and the flavor of the Mozzarella cheese was pretty much undetectable. Mozzarella cheese doesn’t have a forward taste anyway. Something like Smoked Provolone would have worked better. More Biscuits. More Mashed Potatoes. The scrambled eggs were hammered. Brown and Chewy. The fried chicken was a pounded flat breast which is the least flavorful part of the chicken. I’m a Thigh Guy. It was overcooked but the batter was seasoned well and crispy. It was pretty good overall 7 It’s a very imposing dish. I am sure people love it. With a few tweaks it would jump up at least another point. I can’t blame them for my lack of Fried Chicken Love.
I think they need to add a dish to the Menu. a Breakfast Gator Special Benedict. A bowl of the Smashed Potatoes, 2 beautiful Poached Eggs and topped with the Chipotle Cream Sauce. You are welcome.

Something that is actually part of another dish but Sam suggested I order it Solo.
A Banana pancake that is the size of a Hubcap off of a 1992 Buick LeSabre.

This was kind of a surprise. It was decent but not great. It tasted a bit like raw flour and Chewy. It was served with butter and Fakle Syrup. The Bananas were good. An overall 6 It’s not a Reeses Pancake from WHISK. I have dreams about that Pancake. Damn you Rodriguez Brothers.
OK that’s all he wrote. This is an interesting place. A bit out of the box for a chain restaurant. It was worth the trip for the Meatloaf and Mash. It would have been a good lunch.
As for me I’m off to my next adventure.
